The microphone icon is used during called to make yourself audible to others when needed. When there is a slash through the microphone icon, that means you are muted, and others can't hear you. To toggle between these options, simply press the icon.
The video icon operates similarly to the microphone icon. When there is a slash through the symbol, others will not be able to see you and will see a black square with your meeting name and profile picture.
The screen sharing icon allows you to share your web browser, entire screen, or a specific tab. This means that others can see your monitor display.
The chat feature can be used to send messages to other participants. Messages can be recieved by everyone in a meeting, or specific people, through direct messaging. The chat feature is especially useful for sending links, or as an alternative to speaking.
Keep track of the particpants in a Zoom meeting and their status's with the participants icon. When clicked, the participants list will usually open on the right side of the screen. Click the "x"in the top right-hand corner to close out of the participant list.
Also on the bottom tool bar is an icon called "Reactions". This feature allows participants to express themselves without interrupting the speaker. Participants can use a variety of emojis, which are faces with different expressions, as reactions during a meeting. Common emojis are thumbs up, heart, and laughter. Pariticpants can also ditigally raise their hand, which can be noted by the host and other participants.
